Self-discipline
Self discipline is an act of self-love.
If you were raised with a parent who mischaracterized or blamed you, it will be difficult to love yourself. When you don’t love you, you may let go of your goals easily, you may sacrifice yourself for something or someone else, you might betray or hurt yourself.
You might even find yourself with someone who makes a decision and you pay the price.
Looking after you in every way: emotionally, physically, financially, spiritually seems an almost impossible task. You might be able to do it in spurts, but not continuously. You might make commitments to yourself only to let them drift away. If this happens, you might be even harsher with you than usual.
Listen carefully to how you talk to you. Do you blame or emotionally abuse you? Are you cruel or critical with you? In order to stop this adaptive habit, working with a therapist who can help you correct it is a path to greater freedom.
